Scend`s Restaurant in Emeryville

The food was just decent enough well at least the fish was. I ordered the fish & prawns with potato salad & Mac cheese, both sides were disgusting I couldn’t finish them honestly the fish was actually good not over fried but the shrimp was over fried but they both had a good taste to it.I really don’t know what was wrong with the Mac n cheese it tasted so funny I can’t explain & the cheese wasn’t melted, the potato salad was better than the Mac cheese but still not good.also they didn’t have all of the sides that were listed on menu which sucked. They also need a updated menu & online website I just don’t understand why they don’t. I really expected more & I don’t think I will be returning.

Great drink menu... Staff was friendly & down to earth. Food was nothing out of the ordinary. We ordered garlic noodles & 3-way BBQ meat combo. The ribs & mac & cheese was the best part. Meat came out slightly cold. 😑 Now that we've tried it... I don't feel like we need to go back again unless it's for drinks

I got the breakfast grits with jumbo shrimp and a bacon and egg sandwich. These grits tasted like they were fried up by god himself and blessed with a priest while Gordon Ramsey recited bible passages. The bacon and egg sandwich was simple but so god damn flavorful I had to call the police and file a report that my taste buds had been stolen. 20/10 would recommend, Marshawn and his crew did amazing

Born & raised in Oakland I have seen a lot of restaurants come & go but I certainly hope this one stays. Not only was the customer service outstanding but the food was even better. I went on "BBQ Tuesday"! The portions they give is worth the money. I am looking forward to returning for the soul food.......Oh yeah the Cadillac Margarita was on point.

It was ok. Came in on a Sunday around 5 or 530pm. The host took about 10-15 mins to greet me. Although he sat there at the podium the entire time. I actually finally approached him and ask about the wait time. He told me it was an hour wait. So i asked for a table for 2. He then told me even if he sat me, it would still take an hour to get my food. Ummm ok so can i be placed on the waiting list or nah??? Anywho it only took about 20mins til a young lady came and sat us. We ordered and it took the food 20 mins to arrive which wasnt bad at all. I asked the waitress if the sweet chilli shrimp was spicey or spicey spicey, she said it was mild. Boy was she wrong. It had a nice flavor but too spicey for me. I took it home to my son. The mac n cheese was good. Yams was ok, might be canned. The corn muffin was ok. Kool aide was fine. I would come back to try other things. But based on this visit, i wouldnt rant and rave about this restaurant.

Hands down, the food is delicious. I don't care for the rest, cuz I only eat here. And I gets my money worth in portions and flavor

Food is outstandingly delicious! I had the fried chicken, mac~n~cheese & yams. The yam sauce is amazing but the sauce needs to bake into the yam more. I also tasted the shrimp & grits, fantastic! Other than that, the food & drinks are superb!

I was very pleased with the service. Looking from the outside it's a little sceptical but just like a book dont judge it by its cover. Friendly staff, great food, oh and the restroom was CLEAN CLEAN. We were told the wait time was an hour when we arrived on a Sunday around 5:30pm but we we were seated within 20 minutes. The restaurant is small great for family dinner or for a quick bite to eat. They also do call in orders! The only thing I didn't like was online the menu was different from the menu at the restaurant. The waiter informed me that the menu changes daily.

Came for my best friend's birthday dinner and let me tell you this place did not disappoint AT ALL. The pricing isn't bad for the portion sizes of what you get and they sure give a lot. Friendly staff and had an amazing time while I was there. Definitely try the gumbo on a day when it's on their menu... It's worth every penny!

They got the best barbecue in the town. Smoked Meats scream and yams green beans like you're great grand Mama made them. Mac and cheese nice and creamy. If you from out of town and want the best barbecue in the Bay Area, that's where to go. The bad thing it's only going down on Tuesday. 3 until a sell-out

I actually like their food and customer service, excellent location next to my apartment. The cashiers are always nice. Will visit here again.

Shrimp and grits was 🔥🔥!! I want to go there everyday! Marshawn has really outdone himself! Heads up.. happy hour is from 4pm-7pm and the bartenders serve that 🔥🔥 too! $5 shots and the latest music!

Quiet: Sunday Morning at 10:00 AM there is just us and one other table of four. (It was the morning of the last Raiders home game.) Eat: We had both Shrimp & Grits.Drink: Coffee is great!! (but they also have a full bar.)Service: was awesome! Friendly and accommodating. Price: $20 per person. (Not including alcohol.)We will be back.It’s only ten minutes from home. Parking is easy at this time of the morning.

I went for breakfast and they have a great menu. The grits are wonderful, eggs are cooked to perfection. There are lots of different breakfast meat options too. The staff is very friendly and the service was quick. We love in the neighborhood and plan to come back for dinner, as we heard the gumbo is great.

Everything was great, and staff were nice and provided good service. Keep up the good work family.

We enjoy to go out. Yesterday we found this fine restaurant which we didn’t know before. We enjoyed a lovely evening there with fine food and a courteous team and an impressive cuisine. We added this fine restaurant in our phone list and we shall definitely visit again very soon. Highly recommended.

Been 3x ordering something different each time with it ALL being delicious. Might be a little salty for some but I loved it!

Ordered the 10 wings with 2 choice sides (we chose red beans and rice and coleslaw), a shrimp po' boy, and a side of mac 'n' cheese. The wings are full size (wing with the drumette). My nephew and mom were able to share these and still bring some home. Crisp is on point, but flavor was average. The red beans and rice and coleslaw sides were also nothing to rave about.The shrimp po' boy comes with fries. The jumbo shrimp are cooked perfectly: crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. The portion size is right on par with the pricing.The mac 'n' cheese is bomb. Gooey cheese, soft macaroni, and delicious. Overall: 5/5 for the shrimp po' boy and mac 'n' cheese4/5 for the wings3/5 for the coleslaw and red beans and rice

Beast Mode Platter was filling! Wait staff was surprised to see me & my 3 friends finish it all in one sitting! I can’t wait to try the rest of their menu!

The restaurant is first-rate and roomy, the meals was delightful and the rates were very affordable. fast, efficient service and very welcoming staff members. I recommend this place.

Came in right before breakfast ended-like 12:15pm lol. The ladies working were so nice, sat us right away and took out order right away. They didn't rush us at all, which can happen. Three food was super good and fresh. Pancakes were hella fluffy and the breakfast potatoes are fire. Mimosas was on point too.

I wish they served all the food on a daily basis instead of fish and chicken on this day hot links on Thursday. Just cook everything! But from what i had the i was there was tasty!!!! So four stars for me....

Fried chicken wings and chicken sandwich with fries were excellent. Other food looks good. Great service, no long wait time for food order. Not noisy and comfortable vibe. This is my 'new go to' soul restaurant.

Great experience visiting from ATL. Good food those candied yams, mac and cheese and wings where great. OMG i had a beastmode margarita i couldnt drink was a beast exactly. General Mgr very nice lady great personality. I will be back!

So I must say this particular restaurant was good to say the least. But if I want to say the most definitely good good ribs the sausage was good as well. My server was David, he was very energetic make it suggestions and brought over an outstanding Long Island Iced Tea. That was very fortunate on the evening that I visited as Mr Marshawn Lynch was there. I would also like to put in a thank you, hopefully they'll get to read this review. So the thank you goes out to Marshawn Lynch himself he allowed myself and a family member to sit at his table with him. It was a good experience overall to had the opportunity to sit at the table with him as well as be able to speak to him and shake his hand let him know that that he's done an outstanding job in his profession. Overall an outstanding experience food-wise and it was taken over the top by having the opportunity to meet Marshawn Lynch.

I love this place because it's in the community and has the grassroots vibe, but the owners of the place need to try harder. We did a Sunday brunch at the spot. Although our party all ordered at the same time, our meals were served in a "staggered tape delay." So, we each ate our meals one after the other. The waffles were rubbery, the grits were watery, and the fruit bowl might have been good 'yesterday.' The restaurant possesses everything it needs to succeed in Oakland/Emeryville including charismatic staff members, but again, success will require extra effort.

Nice. Saw NFL great Marshawn Lynch. Greens were seasoned well without pork. Hot and fresh. The and cashier had great personalities. They say they are sister. Favor each other a little. The were also fresh and hot. Shrimp and grits were really great also. First time visit. Only complaint was not being able to eat inside. Due to the Covid19 Pandemic.

Shrimp and Grits were scrumptious, loved the beef base. Teriyaki wings & Red Beans and Rice were on point. Auntie Denise was very hospitable and funny. I will be back and back again!

This food INSTANTLY brought me back to grandmas cooking. Soul is definitely a good name for this. Ordered one 6 piece swahi fish with green beans and mac n cheese. Immediately put in two more orders but added the yams as a side. Omg!!! The green beans 🔥. Mac n cheese 🤗👍 that fish was fried just right, golden with just enough crunchiness. Had to take some home for breakfast just to make sure once I woke up I wasn't triiping about the sensational goodness. 👏🤜🤛🙌 to the cook.
